Publisher's Description of mp3po Pro
" MP3 file splitter and renaming system. "
- From Dave Kendall
MP3 Files for more then just music. MP3 and more recently WMA files are a great way to keep and transport your music. With the advent of legal services making downloads of this nature possible file mediums such as this will become more and more important in the future.
Like most new medium audio compression formats can be both a bane and a blessing at the same time. While they are very convenient to use in a computer for playback they can become a bit unwieldy in other devices such as portable and even "boombox" size devices. I have a mp3 stereo in my car that is made by Kenwood and it is top of the line, but it suffers seriously in some regards.
* It is very difficult to fast forward to a location on the disk that I want to hear. This is particularly true of files such as audio books.
* Without extensive renaming of the files the stereo seems to play in a random order.
This is not a new phenomenon but it is one that plagues everyone at some point that uses these compressed audio files. More then any of these though is the utilization of files that are longer in length such as speeches, recorded telephone conversations or audio books. There is an online provider of audiobooks Audible providing downloads of books on a monthly subscription basis. Typically the files are of much greater length then a single song and this makes it very difficult to locate the precise location of a disk when you return to it.
By way of example my home stereo system boasts that it can play MP3 disks. This is awesome except it does not allow you to fast forward through to get to a different section. Even in my car while possible this is very slow. The net result is that in my car, I have to hold the advance button 2 or three minutes for every 10 minutes of audio I wish to skip. My car does not remember the position of the disk.
