Publisher's Description of DiscSafe
" Your trustworthy partner for backup to CD, DVD, hard disc. "
- From Engelmann Media GmbH
DiscSafe will be your trustworthy partner for backup to CD, DVD, hard disc, an image or a compressed file as well as the creation of periodically reoccurring processes. Backups are not very popular with most users but are indispensable accompaniments with work on computers anyway.
The reason lies at hand: Digital data has the command over an extremely fleeting existence base - that, however, only appears when something went wrong. The causes of such an unbill can be many fold in nature: a defective hardware component, a software bug or even a virus to mention only a few examples. The result always looks the same: Either you're lucky and the computer presents itself after a new startup as usual or the short-term irregularity ripped one or another important document resulting in loss - permanently.
With DiscSafe you are provided with the most important functions that you require for regular security of your data - whereby the program mainly focuses on storage on a CD-R, DVD or CD-RW. For several reasons:
- CDs/DVDs possess long durability data, depending on the used medium between ten and one hundred years.
- CDs/DVDs know no incompatibilities between different systems like other backup media. A CD/DVD-ROM drive will in most cases recognize an inserted CD or DVD, as long as it isn't defective
- no matter in what computer it is installed.
- CDs/DVDs enable the immediate availability to stored data not matter where on the medium the special data is stored. Tedious fast forwards and rewinds as with magnetic tape is eliminated. With large amounts of data DiscSafe "streamlines" your data backup over several media.
- CDs/DVDs are unsusceptible in comparison to magnet fields and, furthermore, unequally inexpensive with almost unbeatable costs per stored megabyte.
- CD recorders are less expensive than other backup media - and can be used conveniently for other purposes than backups: the creation of photo, video and audio CDs.
