You could spend hours and days trying to remember what password you used to protect your ZIP archive. You’re convinced it has to be something obvious, but what is it?
Atomic ZIP Password Recovery restores lost and forgotten passwords to ZIP archives using classic encryption. Even though stronger forms of encryption exist, classic encryption is built in to the ZIP format and is supported by all software for managing ZIP archives: WinZip, WinRar, PKZIP, 7-Zip and more.
Atomic Zip Password Recovery has a simple interface that anyone can master.
The program gives you a choice of two attack methods for password recovery:
1. Brute force attack. In a brute force attack, the program generates and tests all possible keystroke combinations. This method guarantees success but requires a significant investment of time. Atomic Zip Password Recovery offers two modes of brute force attack:
* Automated mode. In automated mode the program generates possible passwords out of the most commonly used keystrokes (lower- and upper-case letters and numbers, 5-symbol passwords).
* Manual (user defined) mode. We recommend that you use the user defined mode if you have an idea of the structure of the password you need to recover. In manual mode you can limit password length and symbols to those that are most likely to have been used in the password (such as lower-case letters and numbers). This approach can save a lot of time.
2. Dictionary attack. In a dictionary attack the program only tries passwords from its dictionary list of possible passwords. Atomic Zip Password Recovery also uses a mutation technique to test variations on common words. This method is a serious time-saver, but it only works when the password is a common word or combination of words. You can create your own dictionaries or download existing dictionaries from the Atomic ZIP Password Recovery website.
With Atomic Zip Password Recovery, you can pause your search at any point in the process and continue where you left off at a later time.
The program also calculates the time required to recover your password so that you have all the information you need when deciding what type of attack to use on your lost ZIP password.
