Microsoft HTML Help Workshop 1.32
Program Specifications
Publisher's Description of Microsoft HTML Help Workshop
" Used to create Help (HLP) files for distributing with applications. "
- From Microsoft Corporation
Lets you create Windows Help (HLP) files as well as Web pages that use Help-style navigational controls. HTML Help Workshop is a program that you use to create Help (HLP) files for distributing with applications. It includes a project manager, a help compiler and an image editor.
HTML Help offers several advantages over standard HTML, including the ability to implement a combined table of contents and index and the use of keywords for advanced hyperlinking capability. The HTML Help compiler makes it possible to compress HTML, graphic, and other files into a relatively small compiled help (.chm) file, which can then be distributed with a software application, or downloaded from the Web.
An ActiveX control and a Java applet are also included. The ActiveX control can be used in any ActiveX-enabled browser, or in HTML Help, and the Java applet can be used in any Web browser that supports Java. With either the ActiveX control or the Java applet (which are both redistributable), you can create Web pages that have a lot of the functionality of HTML Help, including tables of contents, indexes, and related topics links. You can also create compiled help files that can be launched from a Web site.
